a happy thought for an unplanned early morning

.

I recently came across Just the Little Things tumblr while going through pinterest and decided this morning (after waking up at 5 for no reason) that I would read the master list.
While every one is a great little thing this one represents what I feel is one of the best, best, best moments in life. That and when you get a very young baby to smile at you.

What happy thoughts are you starting today off with?

Monday Mayhem: May Dreams

Take that not knowing what day it is! I got this one right! :)

Today's Monday Mayhem is a mix of things pretty and perfect that I want in my life. A positive way to start out May.

Captured moments as gorgeous as this,

a new instant way to capture those moments,

a furry friend to love and adore,

pin up style pictures with me as the subject,

wonderful signs (I know of a few I need to photograph),

to have moments of absolutely ridiculous fun,

to be painted and pictured like this,

and decorate my hands,

to find a love that lasts and lasts.

What are your May dreams?

ADDITION: I am thinking heavily of changing my blog name back to a phrase I have used since high school that I've grown really and truly attached to. I know this will be a little frustrating to do when I've started sponsoring with a different name but I've been thinking about it over the past months while going through different e-courses about blogging and personal branding. I feel like I'm still in the beginning stages and can POSSIBLY change everything over easier now than later. I don't want to hate my blog name later.

thoughts?

I'm trying to work on my blog design, I like the color of it now but the birds are not mine and I need to rework my banner a bit. Any ideas on how to get a picture background with white behind the text area are much appreciated.

I'm still a reaaaal n00b at blog design and such and need any help I can get!

Thanks loves

xoxo

Weekly Goals

I was reading through my bloglovin list and was inspired (yet again) by an idea Miss Dani at Sometimes Sweet had. She's doing a new series...

I like this idea tremendously and while I am not committing to doing this all 8 weeks I am definitely starting it this week and seeing how it goes.

So here are my goals for this week!

1) Crochet 8 squares for friend's baby blanket
2) Use all food in fridge (goal is to not waste any food I bought).
3) Wake up by 12pm on days off.
4) Take a picture a day.

Do you set goals for the week? What are yours for this first week of May?

oh yes, and I am sponsoring sometimes sweet again this month! So stoked!

XOXO and Happy Monday

A bit of history

I had a whole long post written out but I have decided I don't want to get incredibly political in this blog.

What I will say is as follows. It has been reported that Osama is dead. People are celebrating, I am not. While I feel it is probably best he is not with us anymore I am not jumping for joy. I appreciate those who have served and are still serving in our armed forces and my beef is not with them. I am not going to celebrate death no matter how horrible the one person was. Do I want child molesters and rapists to meet their end in prisons by other inmates instead of rotting in solitary confinement and using tax dollars? Well, yes that would be the better option. Will I celebrate when they die, no. My heart will always bleed for life no matter how hard I talk.

I guess that's still a bit political. Oh well, I'll continue with one more thing. Just because Osama is gone doesn't mean that it's over. He's been expecting his death for ten years now I'm sure, maybe even more. He's trained many and while a person is just a body, and idea can live forever. Taking him down doesn't make the idea any less powerful in his followers, this isn't Hitler and Nazi Germany. And if you do want to relate it to that then we can look to the fact that there are still Nazis living and believing. So what's next? I don't feel any more safe than before.

I don't watch the news because I'm always teetering on the edge of depression (yay brain chemicals!) and my aforementioned bleeding heart just can't grow a hard enough shell. While so many are celebrating today, tonight and forever more I'll just hold a bit of sadness that the idea still lives that it is God's will for Americans to die and even worse, all we, as Americans, can figure to do stop the threat is to make it a national belief that we need to kill them back (or first).

We are all human, I wish there was a better way.

I apologize for the sad tone of this blog, I will be returning to the regularly scheduled happy posts like Monday Mayhem, Books of April and one more in an hour or so.

SX-70 Sunday

I really slacked on taking pictures during the month of April. I guess today I can make a promise to take more in the month of May! Here are the attempts at polaroids this month...

My couch

my collection of thermoses

Through a foggy window

I'm working on different techniques with the impossible film but still having a bit of a hard time. For the first two pictures I had the brilliant idea of using a lighter to heat the back of the picture right after I took it. I thought at first I had ruined the print but after a few more minutes they came out as best as they could. The last picture I heated over a light bulb in my room.
I'm still a little shakey on these but considering the room I was in was pretty dark for all three they did come out alright, maybe I should go take some in the sun today and see what happens!

Today I started late and am trying to regain a positive mood. Bloglovin helped and now if I get myself out into the sunshine everything might just feel okay.

coming later: Books of April.
